At least one animal lost its life
A house is completely destroyed by flames in Les Cèdres
A family home on chemin Saint-Grégoire in Les Cèdres was completely engulfed in flames after a fire broke out in the garage adjacent to the house at around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday.
By the time the first firefighters arrived, the embrace was already widespread. "Our crews are unable to begin a search for the cause because the building is still too unstable," Steven Pilon, lieutenant for the Municipalité des Cèdres fire department, confirmed to Néomédia.
In addition to the house, a vehicle parked in front of the residence was also engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no one was on the premises at the time of the fire. "Unfortunately, we found the body of an animal, and according to the information we received, there may have been two animals in the residence," added Mr. Pilon.
Due to the intensity of the blaze, firefighters had to use pools of water, despite the presence of a hydrant near the residence. The Community Emergency Response Unit was called to the scene.
Teams from Saint-Lazare, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Clet and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield were called in to assist their colleagues in Les Cèdres. Firefighters from the Service de sécurité incendie de Pincourt / Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot were also called in with their tanker and air bank. Finally, firefighters from Coteau-du-Lac / Les Coteaux were on hand to cover the territory.
