Néomédia in-house survey
Do you follow the activities of the new Women's Hockey League?
The Women's Professional Hockey League was launched in January 2024. Like the National Hockey League in its early days, the new sports organization features six teams named after their respective cities: Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Minnesota, New York and Boston. A Campivallensian is part of the Montreal squad as a reserve.
This new development inspired Neomedia's poll question: Do you follow the activities of the new Women's Professional Hockey League? The choices for the poll are as follows:
- Yes, I try to watch every game;
- Yes, I keep up to date with the final score;
- Yes, I'll try to buy season tickets for 2025;
- No, I'm not interested in field hockey in general;
- No, I find the show less interesting than men's field hockey;
The Montreal team's first home game, held at the Verdun Auditorium, was sold out in front of 4,043 fans. On January 16, the players took to the ice at the Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens, to take on the New York team.
The team is made up of 13 forwards, 7 defenders and three goalkeepers. Three reserves are also part of the team in case of injury to regular players.Among them is Salaberry-de-Valleyfield native and Vaudreuil-Soulanges resident Mélodie Daoust.
For women's field hockey fans, the RDS network will broadcast 16 of the Montreal team's 24 regular-season games, which end on May 4, in addition to the playoffs.
At the same time, nine games will be broadcast live on ICI Tou.tv and Radio-Canada Sports, including two on ICI Télé: the Montreal team's home opener on January 13 against Boston, and the February 24 game against Ottawa.
Last Thursday, Air Canada announced its partnership with the circuit, becoming the official airline of the league's six initial teams.
