Every Saturday from January 20 to February 17, and exceptionally on Friday, February 2, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion will be offering outdoor family activities as part of its Plaisirs d'hiver program. The public will be invited to reconnect with the joys of the cold season at Maison-Valois Park and Harwood Nature Park.

"With winter arriving later and later, we need to take advantage of this short window of opportunity to practice sports on snow or ice. The Plaisirs d'hiver initiative is designed to encourage people to play outdoors and get active in winter," explains Vincent Bastien, Director of the Leisure and Culture Department.

Maison-Valois Park

On January 27, entertainment, games and music will set the mood at the ice ring and slide, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., during a disco evening. Citizens can borrow skates, scooters, snowskates and tubes free of charge by presenting their citizen card.

Young people special even

Young people aged 12 to 17 will have their own special event on Friday, February 2. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the snow park will be animated by Les Toasters snowboard school and DJ Duffix. The more adventurous can take part in sports challenges proposed by the Animation Jeunesse Vaudreuil-Dorion team. To fill hungry stomachs, free popcorn, S'mores and hot chocolate will be distributed. Equipment loans are free of charge.

Western tunes

For the last Saturday of Plaisirs d'hiver, Parc de la Maison-Valois will take on a Western flair with a Winter Country Day. On Saturday, February 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can take a carriage ride, eat taffy on snow and take part in lively games. The Star Dance school will also be on hand to give country dance lessons. The Maison-Valois parking lot will be closed for the duration of the event.

Harwood Nature Park

You can also try out cross-country skiing under the guidance of Ski de fond Québec, on January 20 and February 3. Vaudreuil-Dorion residents can secure their place at the event by pre-registering online from 9 a.m. on January 15. All materials will be provided on site, free of charge.

On February 10, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., residents can take part in the torchlight hike on the 2 or 3.5 km trails of Harwood Nature Park. The last trail departure will be at 8:45 p.m. Participants are invited to bring a flashlight. The loan of headlamps is free for citizens on presentation of their citizen card. Dogs are not allowed on the trail.

Schedule and activities are subject to change without notice due to weather conditions. Citizens can call the Info-Annulment line at 450 424-8502 to ensure that activities will take place.
