Urban densification: citizens' meeting in Vaudreuil-Dorion
Vaudreuil-Dorion's independent municipal councillors will be holding a citizens' discussion on the theme of urban densification on Monday, January 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at City Hall.
The councillors invite anyone interested in the subject to join in this discussion, which will address the reasons why municipalities are called upon to densify their urban perimeters, as well as best practices and innovative approaches to achieving this.
"Vaudreuil-Dorion is a member of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) and, as such, is subject to the Plan métropolitain d'aménagement et de développement (PMAD). This is a framework that defines the major orientations for land use planning, including obligations relating to densification within the urban perimeter. With this talk, we hope not only to put the obligations into perspective, but above all to understand the concerns of citizens, so that we can be sensitive to them when making our decisions," explains Karine Lechasseur, Councillor for District 4, de la Seigneurie.
District 3 Councillor Jasmine Sharma: "Urban densification is the path to more sustainable communities. During training sessions offered by the Union des municipalités du Québec, I saw some inspiring and innovative examples. I can't wait to share my discoveries and discuss them with citizens to get their feedback and understand their perception of the issue. Densification is not just a regulatory necessity or a fad, it's an opportunity to shape resilient, harmonious cities for future generations," says District 3 - Des Bâtisseurs Councillor Jasmine Sharma.
"Citizen talks are an opportunity for real exchanges between citizens and elected officials. This initiative, open to other elected officials as much as to the city's citizens, aims to encourage open and constructive discussion. By exploring different avenues, listening to concerns and exchanging ideas on our vision of the community's future, we can equip ourselves as elected officials to make sound decisions," concludes District 5 Des Chenaux Councillor Diane Morin.
