Fire in Les Cèdres: The SQ in charge of the case
The Sûreté du Québec has been asked to investigate the cause of the fire that destroyed a barn on chemin Saint-Dominique last Friday night in Les Cèdres.
"The case was transferred to us because the firefighters were unable to determine the cause of the blaze. The scene cannot be examined, however, as firefighters used a mechanical shovel to bring the building down," confirms Sûreté du Québec officer Louis-Philippe Ruel, adding that, for the moment, there is nothing to suggest that this was a criminal act. "We will be meeting witnesses to the scene to try to determine what may have happened."
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, January 13, Les Cèdres firefighters were called to chemin Saint-Dominique. Dozens of firefighters from the municipalities of Coteau-du-Lac, Saint-Clet, Saint-Lazare, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pincourt / Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot were called in to help their colleagues in Les Cèdres. The response lasted four hours.
According to Cedars Fire Chief Stephan Gourley, damage was estimated at $20,000, and fortunately no one was injured.
