While the region received its first significant snowfall earlier this week, Environment Canada is forecasting a new storm to hit the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area in the next few hours.

Forming over Texas, the low-pressure system will cross Quebec overnight. It will leave between 15 and 20 centimetres on the ground, accompanied by strong winds and blowing snow in places.

According to Environment Canada's weather alert, the snow will begin Friday night and change to rain Saturday afternoon. A brief period of freezing rain is possible during the transition from snow to rain.

The rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult in certain areas, we warn. Road users will have to adapt their driving to the changing road conditions.
