Up to 80 hours of training
Francization program for local businesses
Good news for companies in the West Island and Vaudreuil-Soulanges regions: they can now benefit from financial assistance to train their employees in basic French skills for the workplace. Thanks to a partnership between the Cégep Gérald-Godin's Formation continue et services aux entreprises and the Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS) and Francisation Québec, this workplace francization is now possible.
These short courses for workers are part of the roll-out, initiated on November 1, 2023, of Francisation Québec's French language training services for workplace training. These courses are offered only to workers domiciled in Quebec whose French-language learning objective can be met through needs-based training lasting up to 80 hours.
"We're very proud to continue our social mission to the region's business community," says Valérie Gosselin, Director of Continuing Education and Business Services at Cégep Gérald-Godin. As the only French-language CEGEP on the West Island, we make it our duty to support local workers in their need to perfect their French so they can better integrate the job market."
Companies can receive financial assistance of up to $25,000 to cover training costs, including trainers' fees, needs analysis, development and adaptation of training content and purchase of teaching materials.
They can also receive up to $75,000 to reimburse the wages of workers who are released to take part in short French training courses during paid working hours. This financial assistance can cover wages, up to a maximum of $25 per hour.
