Fire: Their smoke detector saves their lives

A family from L'Île-Perrot owes its life to its smoke alarm after a fire completely destroyed the family home on Wednesday night.
It was around 2 a.m. that the occupants, alerted by their smoke alarm, contacted emergency services. Firefighters from the Pincourt-Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Saint-Lazare, Terrasse-Vaudreuil and Vaudreuil-Dorion fire departments were called to assist their Île-Perrot colleagues.
The Red Cross took charge of the family.
At the time of writing, the cause of the blaze had not yet been determined, but all indications are that it was accidental.
