By-election
André Legros wins the confidence of voters in Coteau-du-Lac district 3
This Sunday, December 17, the citizens of Coteau-du-Lac's Elzéar-Deguire district were called upon to choose a new representative at the council table. A total of five candidates were in the running, and it was with a majority of some sixty votes over his closest rival that André Legrois was elected.
Earlier in 2023, Councillor David-Lee Amos resigned, leaving his seat vacant more than two years before the general election. In such a case, the law stipulates that by-elections must be held.
According to the information on the Élections Québec website the day after the election, the turnout was 36.29%. The number of valid votes accepted was 334, while only one vote was rejected. The number of voters on the electoral roll was 923.
Here are the results for the five candidates in the race:
André Legros: 151 votes --45.21%;
Line Roussin: 87 votes -- 26.05%;
Nathalie Clermont: 53 votes --15.87%;
Michael Pratte: 29 votes --8,68%;
Stéphane Boilard: 14 votes --4.19%.
