A mobile photo radar will be set up
Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: speed limit reduced to 60 km/h
As of December 18, the speed limit on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be reduced to 60 km/h. In the construction zone on the approaches to the bridge, where more than one lane is open, the speed limit will remain at 70 km/h.
To ensure that the speed limit is respected, surveillance will be stepped up on the bridge, notably by the deployment of mobile photo radars. Signage installed on the approach to the bridge, in each direction, informs road users that this section of Autoroute 40 is subject to such surveillance.
In addition, speed cameras have been installed in the construction zone, and speed limits on the approaches to the bridge have been marked on the roadway. This new measure is in addition to those already implemented by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) following the reconfiguration of traffic lanes on the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.
Remember that when a violation is detected by photo radar, no demerit points are added to the vehicle owner's record, but the fine is doubled when the violation is committed in a roadwork zone.
