Changes to come for the Festival de cirque de Vaudreuil-Dorion
As 2024 marks the 18th edition of the Festival de cirque de Vaudreuil-Dorion, the city has announced that the event that kicks off the summer vacations will undergo a rigorous analysis of its future.
Mayor Guy Pilon made the announcement on December 11 during the presentation of the 2024 budget. Budgetary issues linked to the current economic situation are forcing the city to review some of its activities and events, including the Festival de cirque.
"The Festival de cirque will take place, but in a more streamlined version. Maybe we'll just call it a national holiday with a show, fireworks, rides and food. Activities with low participation rates will be withdrawn in order to focus on programming that reaches a larger number of people, such as those at Le 405 park, Rythmes d'été or the day camps," says Mr. Pilon.
Every year, several hundred cultural activities are held free of charge in Vaudreuil-Dorion. In addition to the Circus Festival, these include the Artefact Festival, the Feux et Flocons evening, summer programming at Le 405 park, the Rythmes d'été concert series, and much more.
In 2023, 400 free activities were offered to the population of Vaudreuil-Dorion and surrounding areas.
It is impossible at this time to know how the Circus Festival will be held, or what other changes will be made to the programming of activities in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The Service des loisirs et de la culture will begin its reflection at the beginning of 2024, and details will be announced later on.
