Gymini athletes put on a show at the Christmas Cup
Over 150 regional athletes took part in the Christmas Cup organized by Club Gymini de Vaudreuil-Dorion on December 8 and 9. The festive competition saw Gymini athletes take home no fewer than 36 medals.
In the Défi 2 category, Cloé Arsenault (7) from Coteau-du-Lac, was competing for the first time. She dazzled the evaluators with her artistic performances on floor and beam, earning perfect marks.
Emily Nicole Garzon Rojas (7) from Vaudreuil-Dorion showed all her potential, overcoming her fears to succeed in movements she hadn't always mastered. Her mastered needle bridge on the acrobatic beam wowed the evaluators, testifying to her determination to progress.
From Saint-Lazare, Daphné Lamarche (7) managed her stress to achieve promising marks in her first evaluation. Her control in her high bar performances and artistic routines heralds a bright future for the young gymnast.
Kara Panagiotopoulos (7) from Vaudreuil-Dorion, initially in the Défi 2 category and now promoted to Défi 3, had what her coaches described as a breathtaking evaluation. Her flawless movements and routines earned her high marks, far exceeding the threshold required to move on to Défi 3. Her mark of 96% testifies to her talent and determination, a well-deserved and promising promotion for the rest of her gymnastics career.
Category R3
Laurie Guay (8 years) from Très-Saint-Rédempteur, won the bronze medal on the bar, thanks in part to her reverse ascent.
Rébecca Sabourin (9) from L'Île-Perrot dazzled the audience on beam, earning a score of 9.40 and the bronze medal.
Jade Garner (8) from Vaudreuil-Dorion won silver on tumbling with a perfect score of 10.
R4 category
Isla Longpré (age 9), from Vaudreuil-Dorion, impressed with a super routine on the bar, taking 4th place. Despite a fall on beam, the young athlete regained her concentration and finished with a bronze medal in tumbling and 6th overall.
Eva Cathcart (8) from Hudson wowed the evaluators and her coaches with her successful handstand jump. She placed 5th on the bar and 7th overall.
Anaïs gagnée (8 years) from Vaudreuil-Dorion showed great control in her bar routine, where she took bronze. She also presented a magnificent floor routine. She finished the competition in 9th place.
Zoe Edwards (age 9) from Saint-Lazare put in a fine performance on tumbling, winning the bronze medal. Despite some difficulties during the competition, Zoé maintained her concentration and attitude. She finished in 11th place.
Avery Hadjina (11) from Vaudreuil-Dorion opened her first competition of the year brilliantly, collecting several awards for her hard work. Her determination earned her a silver medal on floor, as well as two bronze medals, one on vault and one on beam. She climbed to 3rd place on the podium for total apparatus.
Returning from injury, Howick's Laurie Riendeau (10) put in a remarkable performance. Her power enabled her to win bronze on the vault table and silver on the bars, finishing 4th overall on all apparatus, an achievement to be commended.
Noemie Mauran (10) from Saint-Lazare won over the judges with her elegance and a magnificent floor routine, taking 4th place. Her performance on beam also earned her a respectable 7th place.
Léane Woo Sun Cheong (10) from Vaudreuil-Dorion, in her first competition, showed impressive mastery on the uneven bars, earning her a well-deserved 4th place.
Romy Latulippe (10) from Vaudreuil-Dorion, determined as ever, won gold on uneven bars with an exceptional score of 9.65 out of 10. Her silver medal in tumbling and 7th place on the vault table propelled her to second place on the podium for total apparatus.
Maeva Depierreux (10) from Les Cèdres, focusing on finishing her movements, took silver on beam. Her performances on vault and tumbling earned her 5th place, with a 6th place on floor, finishing 6th overall.
Anne-Michelle Dorval (10) from Vaudreuil-Dorion, in her first regional competition, won 5th place on beam and 7th place on floor. Her determination and seriousness in training have resulted in steady progress.
Éva Mayor, 9, from Senneville, with a positive and determined attitude, took 5th place on floor in her first competition.
Daniella Jachan (9) from Vaudreuil-Dorion made a brilliant start to her gymnastics career, astonishing all spectators. Her beautiful execution on bars earned her a silver medal, while on beam, her artistry and confidence were rewarded with third place. Her remarkable efforts earned her the silver medal for total apparatus.
Hudson's Chloé Favreau (9) demonstrated precision in the execution of her floor routine, earning her the gold medal on this apparatus. Despite her fears on bars, she was able to execute all her moves without falling, giving her 8th place. Chloé won a ribbon on every apparatus she competed on and finished 4th overall.
R5 category
Charlie Lavigne (12) from Vaudreuil-Dorion won over the judges with his impeccable hold and control on the uneven bars, taking the silver medal. Her energetic and contagious floor routine also won over the judges.
Léa Sahmoud (12) from Beaconsfield took gold on vault and uneven bars in both disciplines. Her overall performance earned her the silver medal for total apparatus.
Maya Abu Saliqa (13) from Vaudreuil-Dorion was unable to compete, but was there to cheer on her classmates, demonstrating exemplary team spirit and a commendable attitude in support of her team.
Livia Stars-Duffie (11) from Beaconsfielden was competing for the first time in the R5 category. Her perseverance earned her 5th place on the bar and 8th place on floor.
Olivia Kra (11) from Vaudreuil-Dorion, also a first-time R5 competitor, impressed the judges with her uneven bars teeter-totter, taking bronze. Her fluid, elegant floor routine earned her 5th place.
Category R6
Mika Trottier (14) from Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot overcame a difficult start in tumbling to finish in style with a magnificent floor routine, taking gold in her category, demonstrating unfailing determination.
Malorie Rozon-Rodrigue (11) from Pointe-des-Cascades shone in both tumbling and vaulting, taking gold in both disciplines.
Olivia Fortin (11) from Les Cèdres won gold with her back handspring on the uneven bars. Her determination earned her the gold medal for total apparatus, an impressive performance for her first competition.
Maya Costa (13) from Pincourt achieved her goals with flying colors. She won gold on beam and floor thanks to her elegance, finishing as champion of her category.
