Les Cèdres plans to spend $6.6 million on private water system in Lucerne sector
Last September, the Municipality of Les Cèdres announced that it had acquired the private water supply system in the Lucerne sector, scheduled for commissioning in May 2026. Two months later, the municipality is unveiling the timetable and financial aspects of the project.
The total cost of this acquisition will be $6,620,000, according to the municipal administration. This amount includes, among other things
- Acquisition of land and existing infrastructure;
- Construction of a new drinking water treatment plant, including the installation of green sand filters;
- Connecting the new plant to the municipal water supply network;
The project will benefit from a $2 million contribution from the Quebec Gas Tax and Contribution Program (TECQ). Funding for the project represents an estimated $160 on the annual tax bill per dwelling, only for properties served by the municipal water supply system, starting in 2027.
The register for the borrowing by-law will be held on December 19 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Town Hall (1060 chemin du Fleuve). What is a borrowing by-law? Visit https://www.ville.lescedres.qc.ca/.../reglement-demprunt.
A pamphlet on the project will be mailed this Friday to residents concerned. For information/questions: [email protected].
