Île-aux-Tourtes bridge: are you satisfied with the attenuation measures?
The announcement of the new configuration of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge has undoubtedly had its share of inconveniences over the past week.
Congestion is so bad that some people are taking more than two hours to get home, when normally the same trip would only take 30 minutes. In an attempt to ease the situation and relieve traffic on the local road network, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable, in partnership with the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM), has put in place a number of measures, until a third lane on the bridge is reopened.
These measures include free train and bus service. Starting Monday, free public transit tickets will be issued at Hudson, Vaudreuil, Dorion, Pincourt and Île-Perrot stations on train line 11 Vaudreuil-Hudson.
As of Friday, buses will be able to use the westbound shoulder of Highway 40 (towards Vaudreuil-Dorion), between rue Frédéric-Back and boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.
Tolls on Autoroute 30 are also now free.
