An Ontario man was arrested in Vaudreuil-Dorion and convicted of tobacco contraband offences.

On September 21, 2022, a Sûreté du Québec officer from the Vaudreuil-Dorion highway station intercepted Rahsontanohstha Delormier's vehicle for a violation of the Highway Safety Code.

During the intervention, the officer noticed a strong odour of tobacco emanating from the individual's truck, as well as a load of cardboard boxes. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 180,000 contraband cigarettes in 18 cases.

Mr. Delormier was found guilty as charged. In addition to fines of $119,280, the offender's driver's license was suspended for 30 days.
