Results of Néomédia in-house poll
The vast majority of the population behind the strikers
This week was marked in Vaudreuil-Soulanges by a number of important issues: the composting platform, the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, saving the Centre sportif Soulanges and the strike by workers in the education and healthcare sectors.
It's this last topic that inspired the Néomédia team for last week's poll question: Do you agree with the strikes in the education and health sectors?
This Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday saw one of the largest labour movements in Quebec's history, with over 570,000 workers from these two sectors demonstrating across the province.
Teachers, support staff, education professionals, nurses, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants and perfusionists took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the government.
While some protested for only 72 hours, members of the Fédération Autonome de l'Enseignement (FAE) went on unlimited general strike.
Obviously, the situation disrupted the daily lives of several hundred thousand people, including parents, who had to find solutions to keep their children occupied.
Here are the results of last week's survey:
- Yes, because it's the only way for them to be heard: 64.1%;
- Yes, but I hope they come to an agreement quickly: 21.9%;
- No, because the consequences will be significant for the rest of the community: 12.5%;
- I have no opinion on the subject: 1.6%.
