MTQ should implement measures to optimize safety at this intersection
A surprising new stop on route 338 in Les Cèdres
Road users who regularly use Route 338 in Les Cèdres have no doubt noticed the new signage recently installed at the intersection of Chemin du Canal and Chemin Saint-Dominique. However, the Municipality advises that measures should be taken to optimize safety at this key intersection over the coming weeks.
The new signage consists of mandatory stops in all directions at this intersection. It was installed by the Ministère des Transports et de la mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD - formerly MTQ).
However, following comments received from users concerning this signage, the Municipality decided to notify the provincial authority of several shortcomings affecting the safety of road users.
On social networks, the following comments can be read in connection with this novelty:
"It's very dangerous, even more so than before. They absolutely must put the red light on! The stop sign for Les Cèdres is very badly placed, you can hardly see it".
"I went straight through, because there was no information to indicate that he was telling us that a new sign was in place."
"The ads were there for a few weeks, but so poorly installed that we couldn't see them."
"It looks like the flashing red light is back, but you really have to be vigilant. There are still some who drive over it without stopping."
"We are currently waiting to hear back from MTMD on the measures that will be taken to optimize safety at this intersection. In the meantime, we ask you to pay particular attention to this new signage installed at the intersection of Chemin du Canal and Chemin Saint-Dominique," informs the Municipality of Les Cèdres to the attention of its citizens and passers-by who use Route 338.
