Once again this year, the organizations of the Table de concertation en sécurité alimentaire de Vaudreuil-Soulanges are mobilizing to inform residents about the Christmas basket service.

A poster has been produced to inform residents of the organizations serving their municipality. Registration is now open to residents of the region: 

Citizens of Coteau-du-Lac, Les Coteaux, Rivière-Beaudette, Saint-Clet, Saint-Polycarpe, Saint-Télesphore, Saint-Zotique, Sainte-Justine-de-Newton and Sainte-Marthe who wish to apply should contact the Centre d'action bénévole Soulanges (450) 265-3134 or cabsoulanges.org.

Residents of Pointe-Fortune, Rigaud and Très-Saint-Rédempteur should contact the Café de la Débrouille in partnership with the Club optimiste de Rigaud at (450) 206-1008 or lecafedeladebrouille.com. 

Residents of Île-Perrot and Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot can turn to the Paroisse Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal for their requests at (514) 453- 5662 or paroissesjc.org. 

For Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pointe-des-Cascades, people in need can contact Paroisse Saint-Michel at (450) 455-4282 or paroisses-v-d.com. 

Requests from residents of Pincourt and Terrasse-Vaudreuil can be directed to Paroisse Notre-Dame-de-Lorette at (514) 453-5662 or ndlorette.ca. 

For Lazarois, requests can be directed to La Source d'entraide at (450) 455-8000 or sourcedentraide.org. 

Requests for food aid from residents of Les Cèdres are handled by Paroisse Saint-Joseph at (450) 452-4334 or paroissestjoseph.org. 

Finally, Hudson residents can submit a request to the Service de sécurité incendie for assistance at (450) 458-4011 or hudson.quebec. 

The holiday season is often a difficult time

The approach of the holiday season is often a difficult time for many people, exacerbated by the current economic climate. In this context, the partners hope to :

- Promote access to the Christmas hamper service, offered specifically during the holiday season, for residents in need;

- By making available the contact details of the organizations for each of the municipalities in the territory. A helping hand that makes a difference.

A significant increase in food needs

The data in the Suroît regional Hunger Count are striking. In 2023, Moisson Sud-Ouest will be feeding 14,700 people every month. The increase in hunger is remarkable. In fact, there has been a 32% increase in the number of emergency food cases. Over 1/3 of food aid recipients are children. Thanks to data provided by the food security organizations served by Moisson Sud-Ouest, we have observed a 20% increase in the number of workers affected by food insecurity. The number of people helped who have neither income nor social assistance has more than doubled (2.6 times).

Moisson Sud-Ouest serves 18 accredited organizations in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC. Of these organizations, 995 people a month turn to Moisson Sud-Ouest for food assistance, including 38% of all those served.
