The Pincourt sports center project may well rise from the ashes, as the Town of Pincourt, in partnership with the towns of L'Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot and Terrasse-Vaudreuil, has submitted a joint grant application under the Programme d'aide financière aux infrastructures récréatives, sportives et de plein air (PAFIRSPA).

Since 2022, the Town of Pincourt has commissioned various professionals to analyze the infrastructure and feasibility of the project, and it has emerged that it would be possible to complete the existing sports center, which houses magnificent wooden support arches, and thus avoid demolishing the building.

Once completed, the sports complex opposite the École secondaire du Chêne-Bleu could accommodate up to 2,000 spectators.

The mayor and mayors of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Pincourt, L'Île-Perrot and the Municipality of Terrasse-Vaudreuil agree that the completion of this building will have a positive impact on the population, as well as an incredible impact in terms of the environment and sustainable development.

"We're delighted to get the sports center project back on track. This strategy will avoid sending tons of concrete and materials to landfill sites, and allow them to be reused in the completion of this project. The four towns want to write a new page of positive history to complete this infrastructure," says Claude Comeau, mayor of Pincourt.

Mayor Deschênes adds: "At the launch of the Cité-des-Jeunes Arena in October, we clearly stated our intention to work closely with our neighboring towns to build a sports facility on Île Perrot that would be accessible to the entire population of the island and the region. Since the ice sports center project fits exactly into this vision, we fully support the Town of Pincourt in its request for financial assistance and will participate actively in the project's development."

Once the grant has been awarded, the participating towns will create a new board to take charge of the project. The mayors of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Pincourt, L'Île-Perrot and Terrasse-Vaudreuil will keep the public informed of future developments on this important project.

Thanks to this intermunicipal collaboration, the population of the three towns and of the Municipality will benefit from a motivating and inspiring sports venue close at hand.

"We are proud to support the Île Perrot towns' request for funding to relaunch a sports infrastructure for the benefit of our citizens," adds Michel Bourdeau, mayor of Terrasse-Vaudreuil.

"The Town of L'Île-Perrot will collaborate with the towns of Île Perrot on this request for financial assistance, which aims to improve the recreational and sports offer for our citizens, through a quality infrastructure located on the island. For Île-Perrot, the PAFIRSPA grant is a sine qua non for the success of this promising project and the participation of our municipal administration in it", concluded Pierre Séguin, mayor of the Town of L'Île-Perrot.
