His successor to be announced shortly
Jean-Yves Poirier steps down as president of the Société de gestion des matières résiduelles
Saint-Polycarpe mayor Jean-Yves Poirier is stepping down as president of the Société de gestion des matières résiduelles and the Table de l'environnement de la MRC.
The mayor made the announcement on Monday at the regular meeting of the Saint-Polycarpe municipal council.
"I had mentioned that I was going to run again, but I followed the advice of a citizen who told me, at the last meeting, not to withdraw, and that's what I did. I 'slapped' my hands under the table because I care about the environment," he said.
Mr. Poirier explained that he took this decision, in particular, at the request of his family. "I think that in the last few years, I had a little too much on my plate, and personally, I didn't want to lose my health."
As for his successor, this should be announced in the next few weeks. "There are people out there who really care about the environment, and I have every confidence in them," he concluded.
