The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion financially supports five young athletes
On Monday, the Vaudreuil-Dorion City Council awarded $3,000 to five young Vaudreuil-Dorion athletes, identified as Espoir, Relève or Élite by their federations, in a variety of disciplines.
The funds were granted as part of the City's Athlete Support Policy and will be used to financially support the athletes and their families as they participate in championships.
Jérémie Hamel (tennis), Jonathan Hinse (road cycling), Éllie-Maude Roy and Aurélie Bélanger (volleyball) and Éloi Gagnon (baseball) were received by the Town Council to salute their sporting achievements.
The purpose of this financial support is to highlight the sporting performance of young Vaudreuil-Dorion athletes and encourage their participation in major sporting events, such as championships, selections or competitions of provincial, national or international scope, as well as specialization or advanced training courses recognized by their federations and necessary for their development.
Mayor Guy Pilon was keen to highlight the efforts of these young athletes: "I congratulate you on your commitment to your sport. Each of you has shown discipline, perseverance and determination, qualities that will serve you well throughout your lives. You can be proud of your achievements. I'd also like to thank your parents, who play such an important supporting role in your journey."
Full details and eligibility criteria for the Athlete Support Policy are available on the City's website, in the Municipal Policies section.
