The Soulanges Pionniers were in action both home and away this weekend. In both cases, the U15 and U18 teams got the better of their respective opponents.
On Saturday, the U15s visited Cowansville's École secondaire Massey-Vanier. Despite a reduced squad, the Pionniers won by a score of 6-3. The rookies did particularly well in this away game.
Player of the match was Frédéric Masse, who blackened the score sheet on two occasions during the game with an intense, disciplined performance. The hardest-working player was Louka Maheu. According to the coaches, he delivered an impeccable performance in both directions of the rink.
Other scorers were Lukas Lalonde, with two goals and an assist, and Xavier Thauvette, who found the back of the net once. Antoine Boulianne and Adam Latulipe also had a good game, with one assist each.
In a post-game interview, player of the match Masse summed up his team's game: "We showed up! ''.
A fine victory for the U18s
For their part, the U18s were playing at home, while Collège de Montréal visited the Centre sportif Soulanges.
Despite an imperfect game, the Pionniers were opportunistic and won 6-2. Olivier Roman was responsible for two assists, while Zachary Beaulieu scored twice. The duo led the Soulangeois attack with two points each.
However, it was William Karsten who was voted player of the match. He was very solid in all three zones and scored once. This performance will serve as preparation for Monday's big game, when our U18s host the highly reputed Collège Charles-Lemoyne.
