Galileo orchestra is passionately preparing the concert The Creation according to Haydn, an oratorio by the famous composer Franz Joseph Haydn, which it will present on Saturday, December 23, at 7:30 p.m., at the Église Sainte-Rose-de-Lima on Île Perrot, 155 boul. Perrot.

Audiences will be able to hear three highly talented soloists, whom you are invited to meet: soprano Andrea Núñez, tenor Philippe Gagné and baritone Dion Mazerolle.

Andrea Núñez

The 2022-2023 season has been a busy one for Andréa, seeing her debut at Pacific Opera Victoria in Bizet's Carmen and her return to the Toronto Operetta Theatre in Johann Strauss's Die Fledermaus, where she was hailed for her "sexy and funny" performance.

She also made her debut in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette with Opéra du Royaume and in Verdi's La Traviata with Brott Opera. She completed a residency at National Sawdust with librettist Royce Vavrek and composer Vivian Fung, and also appeared in Opéra de Montréal's production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Edmonton Opera's production of Don Giovanni.

Praised for her "brilliant sound", Andrea sang in Rossini's La scala di seta with Galileo, an Opus Prize-winning production in 2019.

Philippe Gagné

Renowned for his expressiveness, refined musical sensitivity, vocal flexibility and the beauty and lightness of his timbre, tenor Philippe Gagné has sung in every era of music, with a predilection for Baroque music.

This particular affinity and his innate talent for this music have led him to perform with many renowned ensembles, including Les Violons du Roy, Le Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, Les Boréades, I Musici de Montréal, Le Palais royal, Les Idées heureuses, L'Ensemble Caprice and L'Harmonie des saisons.

He has also sung under the direction of renowned musicians such as Bernard Labadie, Eric Milnes, Christopher Jackson, Francis Colpron, Geneviève Soly and Hervé Niquet. In March 2014, Mr. Gagné was the winner of the Bruce Haynes International Competition.

Dion Mazerolle

Acadian baritone Dion Mazerolle has forged a solid reputation in Canada and Europe as an artist of the highest calibre. A former member of the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, he is acclaimed for his musical finesse and strong stage presence, both in opera and in concert.

In 2023, Dion made his debut as Golaud in Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande, created by the Barbe & Doucet design team at Teatri di Piacenza in Italy (see photo), a co-production of Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Comunale Pavarotti Freni and Fondazioni Teatri di Piacenza.

Highlights of the season include Messiah with the Guelph Chamber Choir, Bach's Mass in B minor with Ensemble Caprice de Montréal and Beethoven's Mass in C major with the Pax Christi Chorale.

A concert that should please lovers of fine music.

Galileo

Located in the heart of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Galileo is the only professional classical music company in the Montérégie-Ouest region. A chamber ensemble of 15 to 35 musicians, depending on the repertoire, Galileo's main objective is to bring live symphonic music to a region that is generally deprived of it.

It does so mainly on period instruments, in perfect harmony with the region's historic character.
