November 25, 26 and December 2 and 3
Le Courrier des lutins moves to Maison Valois this year
This year, the traditional Courrier des lutins reinvents itself to collect letters written by the young citizens of Vaudreuil-Dorion and addressed to Santa Claus.
On November 25 and 26, as well as December 2 and 3, Vaudreuil-Dorion children are invited to visit the Elf Post Office, located in the Maison Valois (331, avenue Saint-Charles), to prepare their letter to Santa Claus in the company of elf letter carrier Pinpheas and his friends. Visitors will also be able to enjoy outdoor activities and soak up the enchantment of Christmas.
"After touring the parks for the past 15 years, the time had come to renew the Elf Courier formula. With its ancestral cachet, the Maison Valois was the perfect place to host THE elf post office. By holding the event at the Maison-Valois park, we're offering families the chance to extend the fun by taking part in the activities taking place on site, as well as making and mailing letters to Santa Claus," explains Vincent Bastien, Director of the Leisure and Culture Department.
On November 25 and 26, and December 2 and 3, between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., children can write and decorate their wish lists under the supervision of the Pinpheas elf. Children who have already written their letter will be able to take part in the magical ritual to ensure that missives from Vaudreuil-Dorion are sent first to the North Pole. All materials, including paper and envelopes, will be provided. Vaudreuil-Dorion residents can reserve a time slot on the city's website at ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca.Those who have not made a reservation will receive a coupon at the workshop indicating the time at which to arrive. Places are limited.
Visitors will also be able to take part in the elf trail in the Maison-Valois park.Activities include snowball throwing, giant croquet, an obstacle course, elf dancing and a photobooth. To warm up, people will be able to buy a free hot drink at the park chalet, decorated as a gingerbread house. The Caravane Mozaïk will also be on hand to hold a Christmas craft workshop, organized by the Cercle des fermières de Vaudreuil. Outdoor entertainment is open to non-residents.
The Maison-Valois parking lot will be closed for the event. Parking will be available on nearby streets.
The complete Courrier des lutins program is available online on the Town's website in the Recreation and Culture section, under Activities and Events.
