3rd edition of the participatory budget
Vaudreuil-Dorion residents now invited to vote
From November 3 to 17, Vaudreuil-Dorion residents are invited to vote for their favorite project, as part of the 3rd edition of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion's participatory budget. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the well-being of our community.
In the general category, four projects were selected from the eleven submitted, while in the new youth category, one of the four applications received met the eligibility criteria, making it the winning project in this category.
The projects were analyzed by a coordinating committee made up of representatives from the communications, finance and treasury, recreation and culture, land use planning, engineering and environment departments.
The City has a total of $65,000 available for the general project receiving the highest number of votes, and $10,000 for the youth project.
THE PROJECTS
General; Outdoor training modules
This project involves installing training structures with fixed bars in a park or green space in the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion. Bodyweight training involves powerful functional exercises with minimal equipment.
This type of facility enables all citizens, whatever their age, to train free of charge, while encouraging social interaction and developing healthy lifestyle habits.
In line with the "Be an active and healthy community / Get moving" aspiration of the 2020-2025 Inhabited by my city strategic plan, three proposals of the same type were received.
The proposals of Marc Chalifoux, Olivier Charbonneau and Martine Desrosiers have been combined into a single project.
Water access point - Vieux-Dorion
The project involves building a floating dock at the end of rue de l'Hôtel-de-Ville to give local residents and others access to the Lake of Two Mountains. The dock will enable the use of small watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.
The project is in line with the aspirations "Develop a harmonious and sustainable living environment / Inhabit the waterfront" and "Be an active and healthy community / Get moving" of the 2020-2025 Habité par ma ville strategic plan, and is proposed by Vanessa Côté.
To submit a vote, you must :
- be a citizen of Vaudreuil-Dorion; -
- be 16 years of age or older;
- complete the online form;
- vote only once;
- provide a valid e-mail address and information.
Each person living at the same address may vote, provided they have a separate e-mail address. Any votes submitted in duplicate will be eliminated. The City may cancel a vote that does not comply with the rules.
Citizens are invited to vote now by visiting the Information / Citizen Participation section of the City's website.
The citizens' favourite project will be unveiled on December 11, 2023 during the special 2024 budget session, which will be webcast on the CSUR la télé website.
Information will also be posted on the city's Facebook page and website.
Youth component
This section will not be put to the popular vote, as only one project met the eligibility criteria. The winning project was Alexandra Diardichuk-Marinakis' Jeunes artistes de Vaudreuil-Dorion : Paysages en fleurs.
With this project, Alexandra aims to highlight the beauty of the city, its parks and landscaping, through the eyes of young artists. The work will be produced in the form of a mural or various smaller works to be displayed in public places.
With this project, Alexandra wishes to use art as a unifying agent between diverse cultures, and hopes that this approach will enable young people to express their solidarity and pride in belonging to the Vaudreuil-Dorion community.
Alexandra will be developing her project in conjunction with the Division Culture et Vie Communautaire of the Service des Loisirs et de la Culture. This initiative stems from the "Encourage the participation of all in collective well-being" aspiration of the 2020-2025 strategic plan "Habité par ma ville".
