The Soulanges Pioneers were the focus of a triple-header this week, with the MD14, U15 and U18 teams in action.
On Wednesday, November 1, the MD14 team lost 4-1 to Cap-Jeunesse. According to the sports organization, the team cohesion seen throughout the year was simply not present in this match.
The players won't have time to wallow in self-pity for too long, however, as they face the same opponents at the Centre Sportif Soulanges this Monday, November 6.
Despite this disappointing performance, the coaches are taking a more positive view of the consistent effort of Noah Bernique, who was voted player of the match. Head coach Vincent Lemieux had also thrown young goalkeeper Charles-Olivier Leduc into the fray. Leduc did very well in his first career game.
A fine victory for the M15
If there was disappointment in the M14 locker room after their game, there was joy in the M15 locker room after their 4-1 victory over MGR Parent.
The Pioneers got off to a slow start, scoring no goals in the first period.
In the 2nd period, on the power play, defenseman Angélique Lauzon took a precise shot to break the ice on a pass from Edja Leduc and Lukas Lalonde.
Shortly afterwards, Lukas Lalonde put in his 1st of the game and 6th of the season with the help of Jacob Richard. Also in the 2nd, Frederic Masse scored the Pionniers' 3rd goal on an assist from Angélique Lauzon. The Pionniers' 4th was scored by Emerick Proulx with the help of Jacob Richard.Charles Villemaire and Marc Lauzon's team were disciplined throughout. Angélique Lauzon was named player of the match. The Perseverance Mace was awarded to the defensive brigade, who played with confidence and consistency throughout the match.
A convincing victory for the M18
To finish off the triple-header, the M18 welcomed École secondaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes to the Centre sportif Soulanges. In a very intense game, a little undisciplined on both sides, the Pionniers prevailed by a score of 5-2. Adrien Poirier led his team's attack with 4 points (2B-2P). Player of the match was Doualeh Ahmed. According to the coaches, the latter, without fanfare, has been playing great field hockey lately, always working hard and executing details to perfection.
The U18s play their next game next Friday when Collège de Montréal visit CSS.
