"Les Rapides du Diable" at the Musée régional on November 4 From filmmaker André Durocher
As part of the Histoires d'eaux exhibition, the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges presents the film Les Rapides du Diable by filmmaker André Desrochers on Saturday, November 4 at 2 pm.
The originally amusing and instructive film, halfway between documentary and fiction, gives voice to the "conteux-teuzzes" of the Suroît region, who recount some of the countless legends that have been perpetuated orally since the dawn of time in the Rapides de Lachine area. This area is located where the St. Lawrence River narrows to the southeast of the island of Montreal.
The tales, linked to the presence of the Devil in the area, highlight the ecological riches of the rapids, an area protected since 1937 as the "Ile-aux-Hérons Migratory Bird Sanctuary".
Producer Dauphin Aventureux's film won Best Nature Documentary at the Nature Whitout Borders International Film Festival, and was selected for the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival and the Festival de Contes et Légendes en Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Les Rapides du diable was produced with the collaboration of several partners, and among them : the Fonds culturel de la MRC Beauharnois-Salaberry, the Entente territoriale CALQ Montérégie-ouest, the Ville de Beauharnois and CSUR LA TÉLÉ.
The cost of the activity is $10, or $8 for Museum members. Interested parties must complete the online form.
