On November 19, the Maison de soins palliatifs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges will be holding a silent auction from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hudson Community Centre.

The event has a dual purpose: to raise funds, but also to meet with citizens to discuss palliative care and the services offered at the Maison de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.

Over the years, many artists have decided to give the gift of beauty through their work. To show their gratitude, these people make gifts of money and others in the form of paintings. Unfortunately, after more than a decade of generosity, the Maison has had to dispose of some forty paintings in order to reclaim some space.

Among the fifty or so paintings up for sale, a number are by local artists such as Gisèle Lapalme, Gail Descoeurs, Joanna Olson, Nicole Dorion, Janick Ericksen and many others.

A dozen paintings by artist Jay Geeker, who specializes in "Precision Pop Art", will also be auctioned. Geeker's work is renowned internationally and even interspatially. Indeed, one of his canvases ended up aboard the International Space Station. Canvas sales will take the form of a silent auction, with payment on site by cheque or credit card.

Finally, it's not just art lovers who are invited. Anyone who would like to find out what a hospice is, what services are offered and see their hospice in pictures.

At around 2 p.m., the new corporate video will premiere. There will also be an opportunity to chat with Director of Nursing Mélanie Guérin and General Manager Pascale Boily.
