A 19-year-old man was arrested shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday, following a short chase on Highway 40 West.

At around 4:45 a.m., police officers from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Est station attempted to intercept a driver at the wheel of a possibly stolen vehicle. The fleeing driver refused to stop and collided with another vehicle.

"The driver then took off on foot, but was quickly located. He was arrested and released. He is expected to appear in court shortly," confirms Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Valérie Beauchamp.

The 19-year-old could face charges of receiving stolen goods, fleeing, dangerous driving and obstruction.
