Vaudreuil-Dorion finalist for the Recognition of Outstanding Embellishment Award
The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion's Mosaïculture project has been selected as one of the finalists for the Recognition of Outstanding Embellishment Award in the 5000 + population category. The winners will be announced on November 2 at the official Fleurons du Québec unveiling in Saint-Hyacinthe.
Since 2019, Public Works personnel have been creating and building the three-dimensional structures to be integrated into the landscaping on the territory.
The three cactus mosaic at the library was the first to see the light of day, followed by the floating frog and water lily structure in Vaudreuil Bay (moved to Harwood Nature Park), and then the life-size ostrich family at the corner of avenue Saint-Charles.
"I'd like to congratulate all the employees of the Public Works Department who contribute in one way or another to the beautification of our city. They innovate year after year, and thanks to them, we were awarded four Fleurons in 2021 in our latest Fleurons du Québec evaluation. It's a great recognition for our city to be among the finalists," says Mayor Guy Pilon.
"The team is very creative. In addition to the mosaics, we take care to create representative and thematic layouts for the structures, using both annual and perennial plants as backdrops. These tableaux, positioned in popular locations on the territory, are much appreciated by the public," explains Patrick Legault, Foreman - Horticulture and Urban Forestry at the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The Halloween decorations created by the Public Works Department can currently be admired at the corner of chemin Paul-Gérin-Lajoie and avenue Saint-Charles, at Harwood Nature Park and at the municipal library.
