The MRC of Vaudreuil-Soulanges donates $62,000 to the Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges
The Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC announces financial support of $62,000 for the Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The funds received will be used to ensure the general operation of the organization, in support of the region's cultural offering.
"By financially supporting this organization, the MRC wishes to underline the importance of archives in showcasing our regional history. The Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is a key partner in achieving our cultural objectives," says Patrick Bousez, Prefect of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Mayor of Rivière-Beaudette.
Custodian of the memory of the Montérégie-Ouest region for over 30 years, the Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is primarily responsible for the acquisition, conservation and dissemination of the region's documentary heritage.
It makes available to researchers documents of great heritage value, such as archival fonds and varied collections. Reference works in genealogy and history, as well as computerized databases, are also available.
"Preserving our documentary heritage is an important facet of our culture. It enables all generations to learn more about our history. Proud of the partnership established with the MRC, the Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is developing its archive enhancement activities as well as its expertise in document management. It's all about keeping history alive and preserving it," says Julie Bellefeuille, Director and Archivist at the Centre d'archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
