Cégep Gérald-Godin awards 27 entrance scholarships to high school graduates
As part of its annual meeting with high school guidance counsellors from the West Island and Montérégie-Ouest, the Fondation du Cégep Gérald-Godin awarded 27 entrance scholarships on Thursday, October 5, to students who have made an excellent start to their academic career at the Cégep this fall.
"For the Fondation, this is a way of encouraging young people in their transition to college after graduating from high school. Already, we can see that some recipients are very committed to their educational institution, both in terms of the academic effort they have invested since the start of the school year, and their involvement in certain causes or community activities " said the Foundation's Executive Director at the brief ceremony, which was marked by a reunion between students and their high school guidance counsellors.
The 2023 recipients of the $250 bursaries are enrolled in various programs: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Computer Science and Mathematics, Computer Science Technology, Arts, Literature and Communication, and the Tremplin DEC pathway.
"The scholarships are awarded on the recommendation of guidance counsellors, who have been privileged witnesses to the development of young people during their high school years. The criteria differ from school to school, but all agree that this is an important message of encouragement to those who wish to continue their studies at the college level" said Egidio Vincelli, Vice-President of the Foundation, at the ceremony.
