Boots, umbrellas and raincoats will definitely be required for any outings over the next few days. Environment Canada has issued a weather alert for the Suroît region, with heavy rain expected between now and Sunday.

Rain is expected to be heavy at times," says the weather forecasting agency. Between 50 and 80 millimeters of rain are expected from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.

Locally, these amounts could be higher. Heavy rainfall can cause flash floods and accumulation of water on roads. Local flooding is possible in low-lying areas, warns the weather warning.

Watch out for subsidence near rivers, streams and culverts.

In the longer term, the sun should return on Wednesday, October 11.
