This Sunday, October 8, sees the 40th edition of the Cross des couleurs, an event that has been making local athletes run for almost four decades. The event will take place in Saint-Lazare's Parc Nature Les Forestiers. 

For those interested in taking up the challenge, virtual registrations are open until 11:59 p.m. tonight, Thursday, October 5. "It will also be possible for those who wish to do so to register in the morning at least one hour before the race, for a small additional fee. Over the years, several modifications have been made to the course to enable participants to better appreciate the beauty of the site. We're very proud of our new 12km course, which allows runners to venture even further into the trails. Our popular 5km always attracts a large number of runners. We also have a 2km for beginners and a 1km to introduce youngsters aged 11 and under to running " explains Claude David, instigator of this annual sporting event. 

Over the years, the race has been held on the grounds of the Centre de services scolaires des Trois-Lacs, in Les Cèdres, and then in Saint-Lazare. "This year, we set a record in terms of pre-registrations compared to last year. Remember that all participants receive a medal despite their individual results.It's an event that we want to make festive and that takes place rain or shine." 

For the 2023 edition, Mr. David and his team can count on the support of long-standing partners including: Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Papiers Cascades-Vaudreuil and La Cage Vaudreuil-Dorion.  Marie-Claude Nichols, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil, IGA Famille Viau of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Kinatex Vaudreuil, Circuit Endurance, of which the event is a member, and the Marcotte dental clinic complete the list. 

"Cascades is associated with the Charles-Bruneau Foundation.Interested parties will be able to make a donation on site or by e-mail to benefit this well-known organization.As for La Cage, the restaurant is committed to offering 8 free wings to the runner, depending on the day's promotion". 

Finally, it should be noted that the Réseau des Sports Étudiants du Québec has recognized the quality of the event over the past few years. As a result, the event will feature the Western Collegiate Conference Finals, bringing together athletes from over 20 CEGEPs across the province to compete for the Provincial Championship at the end of October.
