Néomédia in-house poll
Do you fear an unlimited general strike by teachers and support staff in the education network?
Earlier this week, the region's teaching and support unions adopted a mandate for an unlimited general strike. This action inspired Néomédia's poll question of the week.
In Vaudreuil-Soulanges, 96% of the members of the Syndicat de l'enseignement des Seigneuries (SES) adopted a mandate for an unlimited general strike. The vote took place at their meeting on September 19.
Comprising teachers from the five secondary schools governed by the Centre de services scolaires des Trois-Lacs, as well as vocational training and adult education faculty, the SES has just over 700 members.
"We have everything we need to go on strike, depending on progress or lack of progress at the bargaining table" says SES President Martine Dumas.
For the moment, no date has been set for a walkout. "The mandate allows us to call a strike at any time we see fit" Dumas continued.
By law, notice must be given to the employer seven days before the strike.
