Deadline: October 30
CACVS - Call for artists 2023-2024
The Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CACVS) and the TRACE partners are launching a call for submissions, at the end of which the jury will select emerging visual artists who will be given the opportunity to present a solo exhibition. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on October 30, 2023.
In addition to the exhibition, selected artists will receive a professional photo session, participate in an individualized professional development program and benefit from the guidance of a professional curator. Exhibitions will also be posted online in the CACVS virtual gallery.
The services offered to each winning artist as part of TRACE are worth an estimated $3,000, plus a $650 bursary.
A new partner
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Maison Trestler and the Pavillon Wilson of the City of Coteau-du-Lac, all located in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, continue their long-standing involvement.
The CACVS is proud to announce the arrival of a new partner in this program, the MRC de Roussillon. The MRC de Roussillon has enthusiastically agreed to participate, making two venues available to artists from its territory.
Maison Le Pailleur, in Châteauguay, and Le Gueulart, in St-Isidore, will host a winning artist.
As a result, five emerging artists will be able to participate in TRACE.
Eligibility
Artists must meet the following three criteria to submit a portfolio:
- Practice visual arts (including digital art and photography);
- Be an artist in the process of professionalization*;
- Reside in one of the municipalities that make up the territory served by the CACVS or the MRC de Roussillon.
* For selection purposes, TRACE defines an artist in the process of professionalization as follows: An artist graduating or in training at a recognized professional art school OR an artist who has already taken steps to obtain professional status in his or her artistic practice OR who already enjoys a certain level of recognition from his or her peers, regardless of age.
Please note that this definition is the sole responsibility of TRACE.
Submitting an application
Interested artists may submit a complete dossier containing the following elements:
- A letter of intent, detailing the reasons for responding to this call;
- An artistic curriculum vitae (including a description of their artistic approach);
- Visual documentation (5 to 7 photos), including a description of the proposed works.
Once selected, artists will be required to complete their exhibition with works on the same themes and registers as those presented in the application file.
Subject to the exhibition venue's capacity, all media, styles and formats are accepted. The works presented must be accessible to a public of all ages.
