Composting plant: Saint-Télesphore will hold an information session
The Municipality of Saint-Télesphore will be holding an information session exclusively for its citizens, concerning the implementation of the composting platform on its territory.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Centre communautaire Rémi-Sauvé, located at 1425, route 340. Only owners of buildings and/or farmland will be admitted to the information session.
Proof of residence may be required.
On September 21, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC announced that it was in the process of purchasing two plots of land for the regional composting platform in Saint-Télesphore, near the sandpits sector and accessible via chemin Saint-Antoine.
"It's a regional initiative that's environmentally friendly, that aims to provide quality composting for a return to the soil, and even a catalyst for regional development, as well as an opportunity for additional revenue for the municipality of Saint-Télesphore" said David McKay, mayor of the municipality.
The $20-million project will benefit from a $5.4-million grant, and is projected to generate annual operating costs of $1.4 million.
According to the scenarios identified for the composting platform project, the cost of processing would be around $100/tonne. The project will therefore provide a better control on the cost of organic waste management in both the medium and long run.
