New self-service pantry in front of L'Actuel
The Centre d'action bénévole L'Actuel is very proud to be a host organization of the Garde-mangers de Vaudreuil-Soulanges network, and has been since September 28, when its pantry was inaugurated.
Citizens are invited to donate, exchange and take food to avoid food waste and enable people to acquire foodstuffs free of charge. There is no registration or prerequisite for users taking food.
The pantry is located on the front left side of the building, which has a street frontage at 88, rue Adèle in Vaudreuil-Dorion. It's easily accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
"L'Actuel is a member of the table de concertation en sécurité alimentaire Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and is involved in food accessibility projects. We've been involved in the community fridge and pantry project since the beginning. It's a great pleasure to now have one in front of our organization" says Stéphanie Aubert, L'Actuel's Head of Services.
To ensure the smooth operation of its shared pantry, L'Actuel has issued certain instructions for citizens wishing to drop off or pick up foodstuffs:
- Each donation must still be edible.
- The food must not have been opened or half eaten.
- The food must respect the cooling chain.
- Don't donate anything you wouldn't eat.
- The pantry is open to all.
- Take only what you need.
The arrival of the pantry at L'Actuel does not alter the services offered by the organization. Those in need can always contact our outreach worker Sophie Bertrand at 450 455-3331, ext. 227, or by e-mail at [email protected], to obtain emergency food or clothing.
