A new milestone in its history
Municipality of Saint-Zotique makes way for Ville de Saint-Zotique
On Monday, September 25, the Municipality of Saint-Zotique marked a historic moment by officially becoming the Ville de Saint-Zotique at a 5 à 7 unveiling ceremony.
The event, which featured a red carpet and appetizers, was an opportunity for citizens to celebrate this significant transition alongside Mayor Yvon Chiasson and the municipal team, well represented by the presence of several employees and elected officials.
The unveiling event was enhanced by the presence of Mr. Rodolphe Demers, political attaché to Claude DeBellefeuille, MP for Salaberry-Suroît, and Ms. Jeanne Turbide, political attaché to Marilyn Picard, MP for Soulanges, who offered words of encouragement and support.
The evening also featured appetizers prepared by L'Univers de Sophie. The Société d'histoire et de généalogie de Saint-Zotique was also present at the event, with a kiosk to inform history buffs about the community's past.
A necessary administrative change
In his speech, Mayor Yvon Chiasson underlined the importance of this administrative change, which is an eloquent sign of the growth and attachment of each of its citizens to their beautiful community. Saint-Zotique recently passed the 10,000 inhabitant mark, prompting the decision to become a Town.
The evening's unveiling was also an opportunity to present the brand-new Ville de Saint-Zotique logo, created in collaboration with talented graphic designer Claudie Bélanger. The recent refreshment of the visual identities of Saint-Polycarpe and Saint-Clet was also part of the project.
A redesign committee was set up to oversee the creation of the new visual identity. It was made up of the following members: Francine Leduc of the Société d'histoire et de généalogie de la Ville de Saint-Zotique, Amélie Viger of the Maison de la famille de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Julie Paradis, Ville de Saint-Zotique employee, Yannick Guay, municipal councillor, Véronique Bergeron, Ville de Saint-Zotique employee, Yvon Chiasson, mayor, Claudie Bélanger, graphic designer, Paul Forget, municipal councillor and Cassey Lepage, painter.
The logo, which represents a significant evolution from the previous emblem, was designed to be dynamic, warm and imbued with the qualities of Saint-Zotique's waterfront territory. A budget of $5,000 was invested in the project.
Claudie Bélanger explained the logo's graphic choices in detail highlighting the use of gradient colors that become a distinctive element in the Town's visual identity, setting it apart from neighboring municipalities with a unique, modern aesthetic.
The logo, which represents the dynamic identity of the Ville de Saint-Zotique, also serves to unify the municipal visual identity. In the bird's flight, the outlines of the old sailboat can be found, as well as the dynamic colors and shapes of the other two municipal logos for the beach and the St-Zo.This consistency reinforces the unified image of the Ville de Saint-Zotique, while preserving subtle reminders of the emblematic elements of its services.
The logo was designed to adapt to a variety of media, ensuring its versatility in different contexts, both physical and digital.
The transition to the Town of Saint-Zotique is intended to bring fresh impetus to the community and refresh its identity as Zotiquiens et Zotiquiennes.
Mayor Yvon Chiasson expressed his gratitude for the collaboration of the logo redesign committee. This group, made up of several members of his community and representing different age groups, worked together with a shared passion for the region's art, culture and history. This committee played an essential role in the creation of the new logo, bringing a multi-generational perspective to this major project.
Ville de Saint-Zotique invites all its citizens to discover its new logo and get actively involved in community life as it prepares for a promising future as Ville de Saint-Zotique.
