This Sunday, September 24, at the Auberge des Gallant, Vaudreuil-Soulanges MP Peter Schiefke saluted the commitment and dedication of 27 citizens and organizations as part of his annual Community Service Awards.

Created in 2017 to commemorate Canada's 150th birthday, the Peter Schiefke MP Vaudreuil-Soulanges Community Service Award is not just an award, it's a celebration of commitment and altruism.

"Our community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges is fortunate to be able to count on individuals and organizations whose tireless efforts have helped build the vibrant and prosperous community that surrounds us. This award serves to recognize and acknowledge their efforts, as well as to celebrate their remarkable contribution to the progress of each and every one of us," told Peter Schiefke. 

The 2023 winners:

Action Comité Pincourt: Celebrated for bringing the Pincourt community together through engaging events. 

L'Association de fibromyalgie et du syndrome de la fatigue chronique de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (AFSFC-VS) - Recognized for supporting people with chronic illnesses. 

Association Bharati Tamil - Helping newcomers to the region and promoting Tamil culture. 

CASCA - Nancy Gratton and Sharon Ann Gaul - For their careful work in re-homing neglected cats, and for the support offered to prospective adopters.  

Creek 53 - Because they are guardians of the environment. 

Ferme Coopérative Tourne-Sol - For their ecological approach and willingness to feed the community using sustainable practices. 

Grand Rassemblement des Aînés à Vaudreuil et Soulanges - For the support it provides to seniors, helping them break their solitude and maintaining their power to act. 

Marché Famille Viau - For its efforts to support the community in difficult times. 

Carol Laws - For her creation of Le Pont Bridging, a food support program for people affected by unemployment. 

NOVA Hudson - For its commitment to providing quality home care to those in need. 

Parrainage civique de Vaudreuil-Soulanges - For helping people living with intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders and their families. 

Sanivac - For its dedication to the community, helping those in need. 

Natascha Aiken - For her heroic actions in saving the life of a man suffering from cardiac arrest. 

Christian Belair - For his passion for volunteering, which leads him to lend a hand anywhere, anytime. 

Clément Bergeron - For his involvement in many sectors of activity in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Lynda Clouette - For her dedication to our cultural community. 

Catherine Décarie - For her dedication to creating habitats for pollinators, as part of the David Suzuki Foundation's Butterfly Effect project. 

Yvonne Desjardins and Jean-Denis Filiatrault - For their exemplary altruism at the Café-rencontre in Pointe-des-Cascades. 

Edward Duckworth - A veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, for his dedication to educating young people about military history and the importance of gratitude. 

Lee Haberkorn - For his outstanding work in normalizing mental health and encouraging everyone, especially men, to seek support and help when needed. 

Gilles Hébert and Marie Caron - For their major contribution to fundraising for the Maison de soins palliatifs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges through their volunteer work and organization of the past 12 poinsettia campaigns. 

Rabbi Nachum Labkowski - For his work to strengthen Jewish identity and foster unity within our Vaudreuil-Soulanges community. 

Archie Joseph Martin - For his work in promoting First Nations culture and history. 

Melanie Moore - For her social commitment and volunteer work in education and sports in our community. 

Véronique Roussel - For her dedication to teaching newcomers to Canada to help them integrate and feel more at home. 

Raminderdeep Singh - For his dedication to Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the events he has coordinated through the Punjab Cultural and Sports Association. 

Louise Turcotte - For her generosity, smile and support to the Université du troisième âge de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Maison de soins palliatifs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and her loved ones.
