Runners storm the streets of Vaudreuil-Dorion
Over 900 runners of all ages took part in the 40th edition of the Grande Vadrouille in Vaudreuil-Dorion on September 17.
"We're delighted with the success of this 40th edition. Over the years, the Grande Vadrouille has become a not-to-be-missed event for local residents. This racing event is a friendly, family gathering. In fact, many families take part year after year. For the 40th edition, I'd say that 30% of participants were children," explains Sarah Champagne, Race Director at Circuit Endurance.
"The smiles on the runners' faces allow us to give a positive assessment of the event and proudly celebrate its success," she adds.
This anniversary edition of the Grande Vadrouille marked the return of the 15-kilometre race through the town, via Chemin de l'Anse. For less experienced athletes, 2km, 5km and 10km circuits were offered. Children were able to expend their energy over a 1km distance.
Running for a cause
In recent years, the Grande Vadrouille has made it its mission to give back to the community. "The aim of the event was to raise funds for the athletes of the Vaudreuil-Dorion athletics club and the organization La Passerelle, which helps women and children who are victims of domestic violence. These are really two causes close to my heart," adds Champagne.
"We'd like to salute all the people involved in this event, from near and far. By joining forces, we are all contributing to the success of La Grande Vadrouille. We look forward to seeing runners in September 2024 for the 41st edition of La Grande Vadrouille," concludes Sarah Champagne.
On October 8, Circuit endurance invites the public to take part in its Cross des couleurs at Parc nature Les Forestiers de Saint-Lazare.
Registration is underway for the 2, 5 and 12 km circuits. Full details: circuitendurance.ca
