The opening of the exhibition Voies Parallèles: un projet collectif pour ouvrir le dialogue avec les autochtones took place in the agora of the Cégep Gérald-Godin on September 13.

Producer, designer and co-author Laurence D. McEvoy was on hand to present the exhibition and the artistic approaches of Nouveau Monde, the production company behind the project.

"Our mission is to transmit knowledge by uniting change agents and creative talent around ethical projects that promote education, social inclusion and collective justice," explains Ms. McEvoy.

In addition, a message penned by author and designer Michelle L. Gerrior was shared, explaining among other things that this project was created "in the hope of creating a surge of solidarity among the Quebec community in order to generate more enlightened and inclusive feelings towards aboriginal communities."

Innu musician Éric Fontaine concluded the event with a touching account of his family's history and the video clip for his song Lettre à ma soeur. "We are proud to welcome this unique exhibition to our premises, and to offer our communities the opportunity to discover it and learn more about Aboriginal claims," enthused Julie Pelletier, General Manager of Cégep Gérald-Godin.

Cégep Gérald-Godin would like to extend a special thank you to Debby Ann Philie, who spearheaded this wonderful initiative, and to all those who helped organize the event, including Pedagogical Development, the Aboriginal Claims Committee, Material Resources, the Library, Communications and Student Life.

The exhibition is on display in the Agora until October 2, and is free and open to all.For more details on the CEGEP exhibition, visit https://www.cgodin.qc.ca/events/exposition-voies-paralleles-au-cegep/.
