Development of multi-purpose trails
Two MTQ grants totaling $1.7 million for the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion
The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion was recently informed by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD) that it will receive two grants totalling almost $1.7 million under the Programme d'aide financière au développement des transports actifs dans les périmètres urbains (financial assistance program for the development of active transportation in urban areas).
This program covers 50% of eligible expenses up to a predetermined maximum amount for each project.
An initial grant of up to $988,077 will be awarded for the construction of a 1.4 km off-road two-way multi-use path on Valois Street between Harwood Road and 8th Avenue.
A maximum of $705,728 will also be granted for the construction of a 1.3 km two-way multi-use path linking rue des Nénuphars to rue des Pivoines in the right-of-way along the railroad line.
"I would like to thank the government for its financial support, which helps us to offer quality infrastructure to our population. Over the years, we have developed a network of bicycle paths which, with the addition of these two sections, will reach a total of 59 km. We have made this a priority. The enhancement and development of our bikeway master plan is part of our 2020 - 2025 strategic plan. What's more, I'd like to salute our work teams who keep track of the subsidies available, and thanks to their vigilance, all the citizens of Vaudreuil-Dorion will benefit" declared Mayor Guy Pilon.
This project is financed by the Programme d'aide financière au développement des transports actifs dans les périmètres urbains, part of the Plan pour une économie verte 2030 . The entire project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2023.
