A call for tenders will be issued shortly
Coteau-du-Lac moves ahead with library expansion project
Coteau-du-Lac's elected officials took advantage of the regular municipal council meeting held on Tuesday September 12 to take a concrete step forward on the Jules-Fournier municipal library expansion project.
A majority of the six councillors and the mayor ratified the call for tenders to draw up plans and specifications and oversee the renovation and expansion of this municipal cultural facility.
"We would like the work to start in May 2024, and for the plans and specifications to include a maximum expansion of 125 square metres per floor and the removal of the passageway linking the municipal library to the Sainte-Ignace school next door. The maximum budget we wish to allocate to the project is $2 million," explained Mayor Andrée Brosseau at the meeting.
Not surprisingly, District 1 representative Alain Laprade called for a vote on the matter. He voted in favor of the project and the call for tenders.
District 2 councillor François Vallières also voted in favour of the project. District 3 Councillor David-Lee Amos voted against. "For me, our applications will not be able to meet our future needs, and in my opinion, it would be essential for this project to do so," he explained by way of justification.
District 4 councillor Isabelle Lemay voted in favour of the project. Her colleague from district 5, Christine Arsenault, was also satisfied with the project, which "will meet the current needs of the population." District 6 Councillor Patrick Delforge also approved the proposal.
