Producteurs de grains de la Montérégie launch new soil health project
The Fédération de l'UPA de la Montérégie, in partnership with the three unions of the Producteurs de grains de la Montérégie, announces the implementation of a training and transition plan towards new soil conservation practices on the farm.
The aim of this project is to support Montérégie grain producers in integrating soil conservation practices adapted to their operations, thereby promoting the health and sustainability of their farmland.
This project is funded to the tune of $83,445 by the French Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) under the Prime-Vert program. It is the fruit of collaboration between the region's three grain producers' unions. This initiative is part of the Montérégie regional action plan of the Plan d'agriculture durable 2020-2030.
"We're delighted to kick off this project to promote and support the adoption of soil conservation practices in the Montérégie farming community. This project joins the many others already underway in the region. We salute the agricultural producers of Montérégie who have been involved in implementing sustainable practices for several years now," says Jocelyn Prud'homme, President of Producteurs de grains de la Montérégie-Ouest.
The UPA Montérégie, which has been active for many years in soil protection initiatives in the agricultural sector, has the skills needed to promote the efforts of the region's agricultural producers who will be taking part in this project.
