Saint-Clet welcomes its first community fridge
For the past few weeks, the Municipality of Saint-Clet has been home to a community fridge, a project set up by the organization Les Garde-Mangers Partagés de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The fridge is located on the balcony of the church at 615 Route 201.
The aim of this initiative is to improve the food aid available to all Vaudreuil-Soulanges residents. The project also aims to combat food waste, while promoting access to healthy food, free of charge, according to Soulanges MNA Marilyne Picard on her Facebook page at the unveiling of this new community-based service.
Maison de la Famille Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Frigos communautaires Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Moisson Sud-Ouest are also collaborating on this new food service for residents of Saint-Clet and the surrounding area.
In addition to picking up foodstuffs, people are invited to drop off their surplus. Earlier this week, Mayor Mylène Labre told Néomédia that a cupboard will be installed next to the fridge to store non-perishable foodstuffs such as cans.
