Two Vaudreuil-Dorion youngsters in field lacrosse
Jacob et Tristan Roy : results at the Prince Edward Island championships
Jacob and Tristant Roy, two young Vaudreuil-Dorion residents, took part in the National Field Lacrosse Championships held in Prince Edward Island over Labour Day weekend. Here are the results for the U17 and U19 teams.
Jacob Roy, and Team Québec U17, narrowly missed out on the bronze-medal final, following a draw with Manitoba, who scored in the last 30 seconds of the game.
His brother Tristan Roy, and Team Québec U19, made it all the way to the bronze-medal final. However, they lost to Saskatchewan 10-7.
The Quebec Lacrosse Federation congratulated its youngsters: "Our athletes have returned from Prince Edward Island with many memories and a sense of accomplishment. On the field, our youngsters gave their all, and the experience gained at the national level will greatly contribute to their development. Motivated by the experience, they now have their sights set on the 2024 National Championships to be held in Alberta."
The U15 Quebec team, which includes 14-year-old Jacob Roy (of the Valleyfield and Suroît Les Jaquars Minor Lacrosse Association), won the bronze medal at the National Paddock Lacrosse Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the end of August.
A fine achievement for two young men aged 14 and 16 from the region, who take part in a sport that deserves to be better known.
