Coteau-du-Lac to spend $235,530 on 3,000 brown bins
At their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 8, Coteau-du-Lac's elected officials ratified the purchase of approximately 3,000 240-litre brown wheeled bins for a maximum amount of $235,530.
District 3 Councillor David-Lee Amos proposed the adoption of the resolution entitled Octroi. Group purchasing contract - Union des municipalités du Québec for the purchase of 240 L brown wheeled bins.
The City of Coteau-du-Lac joined the purchasing group of the Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ) to proceed with this transaction at a better price due to the volume of products purchased.
In this case, the Union des municipalités du Québec entered into an agreement with IPL North America Inc. for the purchase of brown bins at a retail unit price of $67.04 before taxes. To this amount, municipalities joining this purchasing group must add $11.94 before taxes for delivery of the bins.
Consequently, the Ville de Coteau-du-Lac has ratified the awarding of the contract for this purchase to the same supplier for an approximate quantity of 3,000 bins at a unit rate of $78.51 (before taxes, including delivery) and for the approximate total sum of $235,530. The sum will be drawn from the unallocated surplus.
It should be noted that the Town will be able to apply for a subsidy of up to 33.33% of costs for the purchase of 240 L bins under Component 2 of the Programme de Traitement de la Matière Organique par Biométhanisation et Compostage (PTMOBC) before December 31, 2023.
