The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion will not be pursuing a complaint against two of its management employees.

The complaint, lodged by a former member of the Vaudreuil-Cavagnal Genealogical Society, relates to events that took place several months ago and also implicates another member of the Genealogical Society.

Without news for three months, the complainant, Mr. Jolicoeur, appeared at the council meeting on September 5 to demand a formal apology from the employees, which was refused by the municipal council.

According to Mr. Jolicoeur, he and his colleague were intimidated and threatened by one of the managers. According to the complainant, a recording as well as a 10-page transcript of the meeting prove the allegations made against the managerial employees.

Surprised by the City's refusal to apologize, Mr. Jolicoeur expressed his outrage at the turn of events. "The City can take action against citizens, but the opposite is not possible?" he questioned.

To explain the council's decision, Mr. Pilon pointed out that "the City cannot investigate the City" and that a formal complaint to the Sûreté du Québec would be the right thing to do, so "the investigation would be independent". 

"It all started with an internal squabble within the Société de généalogie. During a meeting, the two complainants inveighed against one of our employees for a good 30 minutes. Subsequently, a meeting with was organized and for an hour and ten minutes, Mr. Jolicoeur and his colleague attacked another employee. Finally, the threat to which Mr. Jolicoeur refers was that if the organization didn't find common ground, the City would no longer support the Genealogical Society, that's all. It was nothing against the individuals directly, it was about the organization in general. The way they treated our employees, we could have filed a formal notice against them, but we didn't. We're going to listen to their recording, and then we're going to do something about it. We'll listen to their recording and then we'll see," Mr. Pilon told Néomédia.

According to Mr. Jolicoeur, at the end of the intervention, further action could be taken in this matter.
