On Thursday, September 7, Cégep Gérald-Godin officially inaugurated the expansion of its Continuing Education and Business Services program. The new premises are located at 3109 boulevard des Sources, in Dorval, just off Highway 40.

The event took place in a 4-6 format, in the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Cégep Gérald-Godin General Manager Julie Pelletier, Director of Continuing Education and Business Services Valérie Gosselin, and several local elected officials, including Baie-D'Urfé Mayor Heidi Ektvedt.

In all, the expansion work will have added 12 classrooms to better meet the needs of a growing clientele on the West Island and in Vaudreuil-Dorion, especially in the Francisation program.

The project was carried out in two phases. The first involved the addition of eight new dry classrooms. These were built in the former Aubainerie space at Galeries des Sources. Cégep Gérald-Godin was already located there, but the surface area occupied was 50% less than that acquired on completion of the work.

The second phase saw the construction of a new sanitary block, new premises for teachers, larger living areas and four new, more spacious and user-friendly classrooms.

It was the dream of a campus better adapted to the needs of its community that guided Valérie Gosselin, Director of Continuing Education and Business Services at Cégep Gérald-Godin towards the realization of this project. "As the only French-language CEGEP on the West Island, our mission is to offer the entire population of the region the opportunity to learn in French. This expansion is in line with our desire to be able to welcome more participants in our training programs, whether they be for attestations of college studies, workshops, francization or business services".

The expansion project is the result of an excellent collaboration between COGIR, Société de gestion, de développement, de construction et d'investissement, which manages Galeries Des Sources, and Construction Bertrand Dionne, which carried out the work.

"We have to point out that we never ceased our activities, despite the work. We had to adapt and deal with the noise, dust and other inconveniences caused by the work. But everyone managed to get along well together to ensure the smooth running and progress of the work," she added in conclusion.
